In addition checking vending sites required travel to the vending machine location. As a leader in the vending equipment industry XCP & VENDAPIN has developed a system to reduce the time and effort required to setup and maintain VENDAPIN vending systems.To accomplish this we have created an exclusive computerized system to aid our customers in greatly reducing the time and effort to setup and maintain their vending systems. This system is VendaCom 5. Product Description VENDAPIN's VendaCom 5 software is a Microsoft Windows 95/98/2K/XP based computer program to automate the process of tracking dispenser configuration information stored in VENDAPIN's CECB4 board.With VendaCom 5 you can set up CECB4 based products with many user definable parameters either individually or as a group. It allows the use of a master setup template to simplify setup and eliminate errors. In addition you can communicate with remote vending systems (with modem at vending location) in a selectable polling basis or on an individual "as required" basis to obtain status information on troubles, out of change, out of vend items, meter readings and a host of other information. You can even change vend prices, messages and other parameters from your office. In the event you choose not to have a modem at each location you still have the advantage of using a laptop computer to extract information and change settings when you visit the vend location. In addition VendaCom 5 saves the acquired information in a database. This allows you to look at the history of each vend location. The VendaCom 5 software polling programs are available on CD.

Dispenser Configuration Databases - An unlimited number of dispenser configurations can be stored in the VendaCom database. All user-definable parameters can be set including configuration and pricing information, flags, meters, and user-definable messages for each dispenser. This allows the user to track each dispenser configuration and latest status. You can even delete a dispenser from the database if desired.
Direct Dispenser Communication - A user can transfer information to and from the controller board via a direct link cable. This greatly reduces dispenser setup time. A simple press of a button can transfer all of a dispensers parameters. This feature is indispensable in factory or on-site setup locations.
Multiple Default Dispensers - You can assign any dispenser as the default to be used when adding a new dispenser to the database. This enables you to configure one dispenser, then quickly "copy" the configuration and messages to one or one hundred additional dispensers. Or create several defaults and use them when adding new dispensers.
User-Definable Parameters - Every parameter, including all of the messages that will be seen on the display, are completely user-definable. You can configure one dispenser to display messages in English and another in French. The choice is up to you.

From the Start menu select RUN· At the Open line enter "D:\SETUP" and then press the OK button. Follow the instructions as they appear on the screen. When the screen says "Installation Complete" you have successfully installed VendaCom 5.X If problems are encountered shut down the computer, restart it and try the installation again. Adding Dispensers (new machines) To The Database Please follow the following steps to add dispensers (new machines) to the database: Also read the information on setting up the default dispenser in the help file.Press the "New Dispenser" button or menu option. You will be shown the New Dispenser Dialog. Enter in a unique 10-digit numeric ID for the dispenser. If your ID number is less than 10 characters, it will be padded with zeroes (i.e. 20 becomes 0000000020).
If there is a default dispenser already setup on the system, The dispenser ID will be shown on the screen. If you wish to use the default dispenser configuration, check the "Use Default Dispenser" checkbox on the screen. Otherwise, remove the check mark in the checkbox and the new dispenser will be added with our defaults and messages. Press the OK button to continue. VendaCom will first insure your ID number is unique and warn you if there is. a duplicate ID already on the system. Then it will open the new dispenser configuration for viewing.Adjust the various parameters to your liking (if necessary) and That's it! Repeat these steps as many times as necessary to add dispensers to the VendaCom database. As many as six hoppers (combined total of card, coin, cellular phone or other devices) can be accommodated. Hoppers etc. are organized by vend location. VendaCom has the ability to handle a virtually unlimited number of vending locations. The major limit is usually the amount of memory for the resulting database. Setting Up The Default Dispenser When adding new dispensers to the VendaCom database, you can assign any dispenser to be the default dispenser. The default dispenser's parameters and setting will be copied to the new dispenser when added to the database. To sera dispenser as the default, follow these steps.Open the dispenser you want to use as the default for viewing using the open dispenser dialog. Under the dispenser menu, select "Set As Default". If you wish you could later change the dispenser used as the default. This allows you to keep multiple dispenser configurations readily available. That's It! You have selected this dispenser as the default. Setting Up Direct Connect With direct connect communications, you can attach a dispenser directly to the host computer and transfer information between the two. 2-3 Setting Up The CECB4 Board To begin a communication session with the host, several parameters on the controller board need to be configured. If you have problems adjusting these parameters, consult the CECB4 documentation or contact technical support. Follow these steps:
If you cannot read the display (invalid characters), the board has not been configured at the factory. Immediately contact technical support for assistance with this problem. You can access the communications setup screen under the setup menu. It is important to set both the controller board and the host computer to the same baud rate. Failure to accomplish this will result in errors during the communication process. Obviously, the faster the baud rate the quicker the communications session. Setting both the board and the host to 9600 baud will accomplish this. After seeing the display marked "Send To: PC", press the white button marked S1 two times to forward the menu to the "Baud Rate" screen. On the right-hand side, you will see a two-digit number. The button marked S2, toggle the right digit until it reaches the desired baud rate. To reset this value to zero hold down the yellow button and tap the white button. Refer to the chart below for baud values. 1200 Baud - Zero 2400 Baud - One 4800 Baud - Two 9600 Baud - Three (Please use this baud rate as the default baud rate as 03 on your set up.) For example, to set the controller board to communicate at 9600 baud, set the display to read 03, or 13, etc. Setting the security codes: Press the S1 (White) button to scroll through the
three security ·Press the S1 (White) button to proceed passed the"Change When prompted to "To Reset Access Code, Press S2", press the S2 (Yellow) button. This will reset the Access Code to all capital A's (AAAAAAAA). Return the mode switch (S5) to the NORM position.
Setting Up A Dispenser With VendaCom 2-5 The final step is to configure the matching dispenser's communication settings in the VendaCom database. To accomplish this, follow these simple steps: Open the dispenser for viewing by using the open dispenser Open the communication parameter window by double-clicking on the caption bar or using the restore button. Adjust the settings to correlate with the communications settings of the board. Verify the "Serial Baud Rate", Access Codes, and Passwords match the controller board parameters. The "Access Code" and "Old Access Code" fields can be used to change the access code remotely. During a communication session, the "Old Access Code" is used in establishing the connection to the controller board. After the information has been transferred to the board, it will then be configured for the value stored in "Access Code". The access codes will be synchronized automatically. Save the configuration using the save button on the toolbar or the save command under the dispenser window. Press the direct connect send or receive buttons on the toolbar to start the transfer .Setting Up Remote Communications via Modem Setting Up VendaCom Remote Communication Parameters. Please see www.vendapin.com/modem.html for more details on modem solutions recommended and supported.To communicate with a dispenser, you must first enter the communication port and baud rate for the communications session. You can access the communications setup screen under the setup menu. Setting Up A Dispenser In VendaCom The final step is to configure the matching dispenser's communication settings in the VendaCom database. To accomplish this, follow these simple steps: · Open the dispenser for viewing by using the open dispenser · Open the communication parameter window by double-clicking · Adjust the settings to correlate with the settings you had installed
Passwords match the controller board parameters. The "Access Code" and "Old Access Code" fields can be used to change the access code remotely. During a communication session, the "Old Access Code" is used in establishing the connection to the controller board. After the information has been transferred to the board, it will then be configured for the value stored in "Access Code". The access codes will be synchronized automatically. Enter in the phone number of the CECB4 controller board modem in the "Dispenser Phone" field. If you need to prefix all dispenser phone numbers with a sequence of numbers to reach an outside line, enter this prefix in the "Dial Prefix" field in the system communication setup screen. Save the configuration using the save button on the toolbar or Press the remote send or receive buttons on the toolbar to start The host software will attempt to dial the host phone number, and after connecting send or receive the information between the host system and the dispenser. After completion, the host will hang-up the modem. Notes For VendaCom Users For convenience, you can assign a different communications port for both direct connect and dial-out modem if you wish. For example you may wish to have the dispenser direct communications on portCom 1 and the modem for polling remote units on port Com 2. Modem Setup and Initialization In order for the modem at the computer running VendaCom 4 to communicate with the modem in the remote vend unit it is necessary to properly set up both modems. This is done by a "modem initialization string" at each modem. Please note that different makes or models of modems may require different initialization strings to work properly in this application.VendaCom 4.XX theoretically support the US Robotics and Hayes modems and these modems are possible to use with our products. It is assumed that the modems are at least 9600 baud and have NVRAM. For correct communications, it is recommended to purchase the Zoltrix 56K modem from VENDAPIN L.L.C. The Zoltrix 56K external modem comes configured with true high speed data communications software and proper cables for "Plug and Play" operation.

The tested initialization string for US Robotics modems, both internal and external is:AT &A0 &BO &G2 &HO &MO &KO &RI S0=1 &W0 &Y0 If you are using a US Robotics external modem that has setup switches then the switch to "save settings in NVRAM if &W0" must be "off", and the switch to "auto answer on ring" must be 'off'. The tested initialization string for Hayes modems for both internal and external is: AT NO &KO &Q6 &W0 S0=1 S37=9 &W0 &Y0 If you are using a different modem than covered above the following guide may be of help. Consult your modem documentation for help on the proper modem initialization string. Keep in mind that all modem commands must begin with an "AT". The following modem parameters must be configured accordingly. Spaces are permitted between commands for readability but are not required. BE AWARE THAT OTHER MODEMS MAY NEED A DIFFERENT INITIALIZATION STRING AND THAT THEIR COMMAND MEANINGS MAY BE NOT EXACTLY THE SAME! NO Speed set by contents of R37 &AO &BO &G2 Set Guard Tone to 1800 Hz. Only used in UK. Otherwise use &GO. &HO &KO Disable flow control. S37=9 Set modem to 9600 baud. &KO Data compression is disabled. &W0 This command saves the initialization string in NVRAM 0. &Y0 This command causes the modem to load the initialization string in NVRAM 0 at power up.If you cannot initialize your modem properly, check your modem '-documentation. A good default which should work on most modems is a combination of all the above. The best solution is to purchase the matched special designed and manufactured VENDAPIN Zoltrix 56K external modems. See below: INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING THEVENDAPIN L.L.C. RAINBOW ZOLTRIX MODEM FOR USE WITH THE CECB4 GENERAL The modem must have been purchased from Vendapin L.L.C. Next take the CD and the Zoltrix manual and put them in a safe place. These items will not be used in the installation because they are to be used in a normal install for applications under Windows. It is best to do a boot of Windows before running Vendacom to free up enough memory for it to run and to make sure communications port is properly close and not still open with some other application. DIRECT CONNECT TEST The CECB4 must be adequately tested under the Direct Connect mode with Vendacom before attempting connecting with a modem. First, make sure that the connect speed on the CECB4 board is set to 9,600 baud (switch setting = 3). This is the only baud rate that will work with the modems. Next, make sure that in Vendacom that the connect speed is set to 9600 in the Communications window. Set Password 1 for the license number on your CECB4 Processor. Example: 123456, the set 2 (usually=53), and Password 3(=00 for the latest firmware). Make sure the Access Code, OLD and NEW) are set correctly. At the same time set the Host Modem Init. string to null [ ]. It may be of the form AT . before clearing it. Using the Setup pull down window, make sure the Direct Connect Baud Rate is set to 9600 and that the correct port is assigned. Under the General Parameters window set the correct Board Serial Number. Now the CECB4 can be tested using a direct cable. Transfer data in both directions using Direct Connect. Only after the Direct Connect testing is complete can the modem test be performed. MODEM TEST Using the Setup pull down window, make sure the Host Modem Connect Port is set correctly and that the Host Modem Baud Rate is set to 9600. Then set the Host Modem Init. To ATZ0. Check the box for Overwrite Dispenser Info.. Vendacom is now ready for the modem testing. Make sure all cables are securely tightened. Use the cable supplied with the modem for attaching the CECB4. Proceed to upload and download the same as the instructions given at http://www.vendapin.com/ CAUTIONS If a message of the form " out of Memory" appears in Vendacom when opening a dispenser, exit Vendacom and reboot Windows. Do not ever use the window Dispenser Modem under the Setup pull down window. [ END OF DOCUMENT ] Setting Up Dial-Out Scheduler One of the most powerful features of the VendaCom Pro package is the ability to automatically dial dispensers at user-definable intervals to check their status. This can be completed automatically, with no user intervention. With this feature you can dial each of your dispensers and automatically retrieve their current status and meter information.Setting up a dispenser polling schedule · To setup a dispenser polling schedule, press the scheduler button on the toolbar. To enable polling of the dispenser, check the "Enable Polling" button on the top of the window.You can then enter the date you wish to poll the dispenser next. You can either enter the date by typing it in or use the calendar control to select the date. To access the calendar control, press the calendar button. Select the time in which you wish to poll the dispenser. You can enter the time in normal (HH:MM AM/PM) or military time (HH:MM).Select the polling interval for the dispenser. You can choose to poll the dispenser weekly, monthly, or at a user-defined daily interval. Press the OK button to confirm your choices or cancel to ignore them. Repeat this process for all dispensers that need to be scheduled.

For example, if the Bill Payout table is set to 1,3,5,6,8 and the rest to 0, then the bills would be $1,$5,$20,$50,$500. Any table entry set to zero will cause a bill reject. This allows, for example, setting a maximum of 3 bill values (instead of 7) as used in a country as an example for Thailand. Another example of settings for the "Bank Notes" menu in VendaCom 5.XX is with the Innovative Technologies NV-7 serial bill acceptor for Kuwait Dinars:
When coins are not being used the bill values displayed on the LCD can optionally be multiplied by 1000. Use the Toggle labeled ‘EXTRA ZERO W/DISPLAY’. This toggle should be labeled ‘Multiply bills by 1000’ in future versions of VendaCom.
The toggle on the old versions is 'Future Use 4'.

The top row is indicated as Dispensers 5, 6, 7 & 8. The right
side of each row has; Bill Value 1, 2, 3 & 4.
Let the first row be for bills
1-4, row two be 5-8, row three be 9-12 and row 4 be 13-16.
Set the values in the table to correspond to the table above. If a
bill is to be ejected then set its table value to zero.
The hex values for the bill must first be determined from the bill acceptor
manufacturer.
Say the values are:

Set Bill Value 1 to 0.50 in the Bill Table. Then put zeros in the
Bill 2, Bill 3, and Bill 4. This will make sure none of these
entries are used.

Set the number of minutes to be vended for this price using the Coin and Bill Weights window. Set the Coin Delay to the number of minutes (corresponding to the Dispenser 1 price).
2. Dispenser 2 Value must also be set to the minimum vend price in order to start the vend process. For example, Dispense1 could be set to '1.00' and Dispenser 2 set to '2.00' which would require $2.00 to be inserted to start the vend process.
2. To see the # of minutes actually vended, first connect the CECB4 with VendaCom by clicking the 'PC Monitor' icon. After the transfer, see the window 'Meters'. Dispenser 1 has the minutes. Note that the Resettable Meter can be reset to a zero value. It is not updated in the CECB4 board until the next time Vendacom connects to the CECB4 and the download is made by clicking the 'CECB4 Board' icon. The CECB4 will then begin incrementing this new value after it is received. Note that VendaCom can not connect to the CECB4 if there is a time vend in process.
3. On the CECB4 board there must be a dummy plug fixture inserted into the Dispenser 1 connector in order for the board to be able to become operational. The fixture has a 2.2K resistor between pins 1 (right most pin) and pin 4.
4. Up to four custom display messages may be defined using the VendaCom 'Custom Messages' window. These messages will be rotated round robin on the LCD. Note that the last five characters of each of the four 40 character messages can not be used because the time remaining as MM:SS is reserved for these five characters.
5. The normal operation is to first display the cash inserted. When enough cash has been inserted into Escrow to equal the Dispenser 2 value, then turn on the time vend Power On using the lamp 1 output. Next a three (3) second delay is followed by a one (1) second pulse on lamp 2 for the simulation of pushing the 'ON' button at the massage chair control wand. Then another one (1) second pulse on lamp 3 to 'push' the Select Button to select the massage mode. Following the pulse the timer MM:SS will appear in the lower right hand corner of the LCD and start the seconds and minutes counting down. If any additional cash is inserted, the MM:SS will be incremented immediately. The mechanical counter also keeps a non-resettable count of the minutes vended. This counter is incremented after each minute of time is vended.
6. When the time has counted down to zero, (the power relay #1 is still ON) and an additional 25 seconds of ‘free’time is given. If the Push Button #2 is pushed at any time, the relay #3 is turned on for one second then off.
SPORTS-O-ZONE SPECIAL FEATURES:
7. An alternative mode of vending can be selected by setting the VendaCom Toggle EXPNSN to ON. This mode turns on relay #1 for the total vend time then turns off relay #1 and turns on relay #2 for one minute. Note that when relay #2 is initiated that another time countdown is immediately counted down to zero. The mechanical meter does not count this last minute of time.
8. Cash can not be inserted while the time vend is in process in this alternative mode. The Bill and Coin Acceptors are inhibited from accepting cash. The blinking green lights on the front of the bill acceptor will stay off while it is inhibited. If a power fails occurs the current time increment (as specified in Coin Delay) is lost and the remaining cash is restored upon power up.
9. A new feature for ‘Free Play’ has been added. The feature eliminates the ‘Stuck Coin’ error detection on coin line 5. The coin value has to be set for coin line 5 for the free money input. A switch is usually added to coin line 5 to allow the input of the free money. The coin lines expect a quick pulse for the dropping of a coin. A long pulse from the switch could cause a ‘Stuck Coin’ error so the firmware eliminates this error condition only for coin line 5.
10. Spiral Gear Motors require
version 2.23S to be used. The toggles menu selection must be
opened. Set the last item on the left column for [Delay on Vend].
Set the Dispenser Configuration to number 4 using the push button selections
or with the menu selection for Dispenser Configuration, select [Card
Dispensers] 11. The panel model printer requires the use of 2.23P.
