CECB4-T (TIME VENDING) DOCUMENTATION
7/04/03
Time Vending of two (2) different control outputs is done with the CECB4-T version firmware. The Main program debits time in seconds with a read out on the2x20 LCD of the remaining minutes of time remaining. The 2nd portion of the program can be used to initiate a second relay or output for 1 minute..
A 22K resistor must be installed in output #1 connector. The 22K resistor is installed between pins #1 and #4 of the 11 position Molex connector. In order for the CECB4-T to acceptor cash and vend time...this 11 position Molex connector with the 22K resistor in between positions #1 and #4 must be in place.
To set the number of minutes to vend per dollar, use the VendaCom window 'Coin and Note Weights'. Set the 'Coin Delay' parameter to 3 for 3 minutes per $1.00, for example.
To see the # of minutes actually vended, first connect the CECB4 with VendaCom by clicking the 'PC Monitor' icon. After the transfer, see the window 'Meters'. Dispenser 1 has the minutes. Note that the Resettable Meter can be reset to a zero value. It is not updated in the CECB4 board until the next time Vendacom connects to the CECB4 and the download is made by clicking the 'CECB4 Board' icon. The CECB4 will then begin incrementing this new value after it is received. Note that VendaCom can not connect to the CECB4 if there is a time vend in process or any cash left in escrow that has not been vended yet at the CECB4.
On the CECB4 board there must be a dummy plug fixture with a 22K resistor from pin 1 to pin 4 inserted into the Dispenser 1 connector in order for the board to be able to become operational.
Up to four custom display messages may be defined using the VendaCom 'Custom Messages' window. These messages will be rotated round robin on the LCD. Note that the last five characters of each of the four 40 character messages can not be used because the time remaining as HH:MM is reserved for these five characters.
The normal operation is to display the first cash inserted, then turn on the time vend Power On using the lamp 1 output. Next a three (3) second delay is followed by a one (1) second pulse on lamp 2 for the simulation of pushing the 'ON' button at the massage chair control wand. Then another one (1) second pulse on lamp 3 to 'push' the Select Button to select the massage mode. Following the select the timer HH:MM will appear in the lower right hand corner of the LCD and start the minutes counting down. If any additional cash is inserted, the HH:MM will be incremented by the immediately. The mechanical counter also keeps a non-resettable count of the minutes vended. This counter is incremented after each minute of time is vended.
An alternative mode of vending of time for special applications such as the "Sports-O-Zone" machine requires that the toggle for "Expansion Board" be checked for "Yes". . This mode turns on lamp output 1 (position #6 of the P13 Molex connector on the CECB4) for the vend time. After the time cycle is completed...it then turns off lamp 1 and turns on lamp 2 (position #6 of the P13 Molex connector on the CECB4) for one minute. Note that when lamp 2 is initiated that another one minute is immediately displayed as 00:01 and counted down to zero.
Any cash inserted while a time vend is in process is held until vending is finished before another vend can start. If a power fails occurs the current time increment is lost and the remaining cash is restored upon power up. For example, if the vend increment is 3 minutes per dollar and $5.00 is inserted, 15 minutes will be vended. If during the first three minutes a power fail occurs, when power is restored it will show $4.00 and then start dispensing the remaining 12 minutes.
Detailed instructions are as follows:

V5.07

1. To set the vend price per increment of time of time, use the VendaCom window 'Dispenser Configuration' and set the Dispenser 1 Value to the price in increments of nickels. Set the number of minutes to be vended for this price using the Coin and Bill Weights window. Set the Coin Delay to the number of minutes (corresponding to the Dispenser 1 price).
2. Dispenser 2 Value must also be set to the minimum vend price in order to start the vend process. For example, Dispense1 could be set to '1.00' and Dispenser 2 set to '2.00' which would require $2.00 to be inserted to start the vend process.
2. Note that VendaCom can not connect to the CECB4 if there is a time vend in process.
3. On the CECB4 board there must be a dummy plug fixture inserted into the Dispenser 1 connector in order for the board to be able to become operational. The fixture has a 2.2K resistor between pins 1 (right most pin) and pin 4.
4. Up to four custom display messages may be defined using the VendaCom 'Custom Messages' window. These messages will be rotated round robin on the LCD. Note that the last five characters of each of the four 40 character messages can not be used because the time remaining as MM:SS is reserved for these five characters.
5. The normal operation is to first display the cash inserted. When enough cash has been inserted into Escrow to equal the Dispenser 2 value, then turn on the time vend Power On using the lamp 1 output. Next a three (3) second delay is followed by a one (1) second pulse on lamp 2 for the simulation of pushing the 'ON' button at the massage chair control wand. Then another one (1) second pulse on lamp 3 to 'push' the Select Button to select the massage mode. Following the pulse the timer MM:SS will appear in the lower right hand corner of the LCD and start the seconds and minutes counting down. If any additional cash is inserted, the MM:SS will be incremented immediately. The mechanical counter also keeps a non-resettable count of the minutes vended. This counter is incremented after each minute of time is vended.
6. When the time has counted down to zero, (the power relay #1 is still ON) and an additional 25 seconds of ‘free’time is given. If the Push Button #2 is pushed at any time, the relay #3 is turned on for one second then off.
Custom Features
7. An alternative mode of vending can be selected by setting the VendaCom Toggle [Expansion Board to "ON". This mode turns on relay #1 for the total vend time then turns off relay #1 and turns on relay #2 for one minute. Note that when relay #2 is initiated that another time countdown is immediately counted down to zero. The mechanical meter does not count this last minute of time.
8. Cash can not be inserted while the time vend is in process in this alternative mode. The Bill and Coin Acceptors are inhibited from accepting cash. The blinking green lights on the front of the bill acceptor will stay off while it is inhibited. If a power fails occurs the current time increment (as specified in Coin Delay) is lost and the remaining cash is restored upon power up.
9. A new feature for ‘Free Play’ has been added. The feature eliminates the ‘Stuck Coin’ error detection on coin line 5. The coin value has to be set for coin line 5 for the free money input. A switch is usually added to coin line 5 to allow the input of the free money. The coin lines expect a quick pulse for the dropping of a coin. A long pulse from the switch could cause a ‘Stuck Coin’ error so the firmware eliminates this error condition only for coin line 5.
